View Full Version : Hikari bloodworm shortage?

I cannot find Hikari bloodworms anywhere. Not in small stores or large chains. Petsmart here has been out of the flat packs for about 2 - 3 months, they keep telling me they're on back order. Is anyone else having trouble finding them? One store is selling the huge flat packs, but they want a mint for them.

Ryan,

That's not good... I have enough for another month, but that's one of my staple foods... Hopefully it is just a temporary problem...

Ive noticed it as well Ryan! I normally buy the large paks but Big Al's has been out for months and doesnt even know when they will get more. I had to buy the small paks and even those were almost gone. Yikes! Wonder if the hurricanes had anything to do with it.?

They seem to have them at Dr.s Foster/Smith.

I just ordered a few flats and some other supplies.

I don't think there is a shortage. Butch just picked up 300 lbs of the flats last week.

Then there seems to be a distribution problem with them. They sell every other kind of Hikari frozen food. Everyone has tons of brine shrimp, but I don't use the brine. They also have the krill and mysis. Just no bloodworms. For a while I thought I was just missing it before it sold out, then I spoke with some employees at various places and they told me it'd been on backorder for months and everyone was asking about it, but that they had no definite date when they'd get any in.

My angels and keyholes are disappointed.

As of last weekend (11/12) I have had no problem getting them.

I live in the same town as Hikari. My LFS is full up. Maybe I'll open a mail order!

I can get you all you need Ryan. I ain't in the frozen biz but I still supply Jack and Cary when they need them. 24 Lb case at the breeder price?
