I have shipped lots of fish though the years but I had a little issue on the last shipment that I sent on Northwest Airlines. I figured that I would issue a warning here so that no one else would have to go though the pain that fell my way.......This was the first time that I had to ship counter to counter (VIP shipment). The airport that I was sending the fish to did not have a cargo area. I called the day before the shipment and was told it would be slightly higher them normal. Now the normal is about $65 to $70 so I figured $80 to $90. Not that big of a deal. Normally I keep very good records but I had made this phone call from work and I did not bother to get a name. I show up to the airport on Saturday, ship the fish, get ready to pay, and find out it will cost $282.53. I don't know about ya'll but I do not consider that slightly higher. I went ahead and shiped the fish. I did contact Northwest and recieved a call back on Tuesday. The did credit me $101.00. I had quoted the Customer about $65 for shipping. In my mind I needed to eat the extra $116 and I told the customer this. Lucky for me this guy is a real standup guy and he sent me an additional $60. A big thank you goes out to him.

Moral of the story...get names and exact quotes. If I would have it would have saved a lot of headaches and money.

To a small degree or extent; somewhat.
Slenderly; delicately: slightly built.

Oh,
Try flying with them now! LMAO!
I flew to Vegas with them and they announced what they were doing, first drinks, then food and then drinks again. Well they came and I got a Pepsi, had to argue for the can LOL! Then over an hour later they sold us sandwiches. Nothing to drink with it just a very dry bun some shitty mayo crap and two or three pieces of dried turkey LOL! I asked for a drink and was told "didn't you hear the announcement?" that they will be coming around with drinks in about an hour. I told the woman that if I choke to death from the dry sandwich that not only will I haunt her til the end of her days but my family will sue the airline and her LOL! She did bring me a drink, but when they came around an hour later she skipped over me because I already got mine. I called the toll free number and got no where so I ended it with I will never fly your airline again and no wonder you are going bankrupt!

Thanks for the support guys. It is one of those deals that you kind of just have to swallow and go on.

I feel for you John!  Thats a royal rip off. Imagine how many others they must do that to and they don't get pressed for a credit. VIP shipment.? sounds fancey... did they serve the fish cocktails and hor'derves?

Those airlines are really putting the screws to their customers these days and they wonder why they are all going under one at a time... maybe if they actually tried to be customer friendly they'd have more customers... I think they just figure people need them more than they need customers... Thats a mistake alot of defunct businesses make.

Sorry you went thru that.. Thanks for posting the experience here, It may save someone else the hassels latter.

take care,
al

It is not just Northwest.
The last three shipments I made through Delta Dash where as follows:
1 box from Seattle to St Louis $136.00
3 boxes from Seattle to Phoenix $229.00
1 Box from Seattle to Texas $72.00

Last Shipment through Fedex Air:
One box from Seattle to Minneapolis: $116.00

The price of shipping is going up everywhere. The only way I see to cut costs is to ship for 2nd or 3rd day arrival General Freight or Next Flight Guaranteed. Then you have the fish to worry about. DOA's will increase. My average weight per box is 20-25 pounds.

For the Seller, it is going to hurt which ever way you look at it.
By the way, I am charging a flat $85 for shipping.
John, send me that customer. hahahaha
Respectfully,
Frank
