I was wondering if you can have too many bubbles, as well as too big and fast, coming from your airstone?
I just did my wc on the babies tank and I finally remembered to ask that...There is no way to regulate the bubble motor thingy...
I know....very dumb question but I have decided that in aquarium keeping, I know what to do and when to do it, thanks to Simply, but pretty much, I do not know WHY i am doing it and what it means.......does that make any sense to anyone??
I'm guessing, Hell no! lol! and that is okay, I shall just deal, dayumit!
Thanks!

As long as the fish don't seem agitated by them, I don't think it's a problem. I have a lot of current in my tanks and no one seems to care. If it was too much of a problem though, they do make air valves that allow you to adjust and restrict the flow of air from the pump to your filters/airstones.

I'm sure they sell something similar at your LFS, probably for a cheaper price.

You actually want lots of bubbles coming from an airstone. The bubbles themselves don't add air to the water column, it's the surface agitation that results in the bubbles hitting the surface that aerates your water.

If you want to lessen the bubles you could also bend the tubing a little and secrure it with string or that plastic strip that loops around and once you out it in the hole you cannot undo it.

Really? I never knew that...Well, then my water is very aerated as there are oodles of bubbles hitting the surface! Thanks, Dood!
Ryan~ Thanks for the info...an air valve...the babies do not seem to mind at all!

I call them "zap straps" in that they get fed through the hole and when pulled, cannot feed back out. They lock into place and you can tighten as much, or as little, as needed.:antlers:
