Eveyone seems to use a blue for tank painting...I'm thinking of a sand color or lite beige for bottom of mine. Figure that color shouldn't kick back so much reflectionfor the fish...I just want the appearance of the substrate...lol...one other ?...I know not to put any substrate in...what about plastic plants?...they will be juvies when I get them...will plastic cause stunting as well?
Thanks...

The color of the paint doesn't really matter, it's personal preference. I would just go with something light as opposed to dark because the fish will be lighter and if you get pigeons, they won't show as much pepper.
You can use plastic plants, either planted in pots with some gravel or weighted down so they stay on the bottom. You'll want to take these out frequently and wash them though. You'd be surprised how much junk gets in them. But since they're plastic, they're easy to remove and scrub off, then put back.

Just like Ryan said make sure you take them out frequently to wash them. It doesn't take long for algea to start growing on them. Alot of times you don't notice it until you do water changes and everything gets sturd up.
