Hi all,

I have a question about my juvies. I've been growing out five babies in a 29 gallon tank since April so they're probably about 10 to 11 months old now. I didn't have room for a larger tank but now I am moving and buying a 75 gallon tank for them in two weeks.

They grew alot over the summer and fall and range in size from 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 inches. At what age do they stop growing and will they come close to reaching their full size getting a 75 gallon tank at nearly a year old?

Thanks,
Kristen

how big were they when you bought them?

The younger ones were about the size of quarters...they were very young. The others were an inch and a half or so.

They keep growing for a long time, especially when you make large water changes. I bought some 4 1/2 inch fish about six months ago and they've picked up 1 - 1 1/2 inches in a 75 gal.

So this saying that they are supposed to grow an inch per month I guess only applies to the early stage ?
Two and a half month old fish= two and a half inch fish ???

I got four 3" juveniles in my 30 gallon tank right now, and I'm wondering how long does it take for them to grow to adulthood (5.5-6 inches). I feed them like crazy and do WC 20% daily.

If you go through the work of doing a 20% daily water change you can speed up the growth rates by increasing that percentage closer to 90 and above. At that rate, by May or so you might have reached the size you are hoping to get
