Yes it is!

Advantages:
1st) it’s a good way to maintain a bare bottom tank and still have some nice plants.
2nd) it makes it easier to move your plants when you are cleaning your tank

I can’t think of any disadvantages…

I’ll post some pics if I have the time tonight.

But wont the discus find it difficult to get their food when it sinks to the bottom, wht if the food gets deposited in between the pots?

A healthy hungry discus won’t let a plant stand in its way of a good meal. If some food does get stuck in the pot the plant will be happy to eat it up as is biodegrades.

When i go to barebottom i was thinking of doing some potted plants but the pots are pret tall and i think a tall pot with a plant looks funny so i was thinking of trying some sort of tray ..... like a short 1 or 2 inch high plastic tray like ones you can get for doing wallpaper and put the substrate and plants in those.

You can get the long ones about 3 feet long but only 2 inches high and about 4 inches wide.............. or use a bunch of small ones used for borders.

Could set it along the back wall or in the middle of the tank.............or put 2 small ones on each end of the tank.

Maybe even a plastic window planter box cut down to as short as you want.

Just a thought.
