I went to get paint for the bottom of my tank and I know some of you suggested Latex. But there are like a zillion choices for latex! Is Acrylic Latex okay? I do not think there really was a plain latex.... Not glossy, but flat, right?

Thanks!http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_13_6.gif

Yes, flat latex is fine. Just go to a store like Lowes or Home Depot and tell them it's what you want. The color is called "Blue Heaven" or something like that, if you want the light blue color. Tell them exterior latex flat, they'll know what you mean.

Latex works fine but for painting glass Acrylic Latex is what is the best for adhesion stays on a lot longer in wet conditions especialy if you wipe down the glass first with denatured alcohol then paint, here is a tip for ya got dirty glass ,windows, sliding glass doors use a 30% water to 50 % per cent mixture or as I use straight denatured alcohol and a 0000 very fine steel wool pad spray on and steel wool the glass real good spay again wipe off with good clean cloth or paper towel and your glass will shine takes off all the nasty film and use this on your mirrors and not that crap with amonia in it and you wont get that black edge on the edges of your mirrors

TC~ Thank you for that 'tip'! The glass that my light sits on for the 35gal, is so white ashy looking, and nothing i have done will make it go away...i shall try your suggestion!

Okay~ And the funny thing about it, TC , is that I can wipe the glass off, and it looks brand new, but instantly it all comes back....I hate that glass. I have always hated that glass. I was going to buy a new hood, but it will happen again, yes?

Go figure~http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_145_38.gif

Thank you TC!

Have your paint store mix you up some acrylic primer of the same colore you're going to paint the glass. once that dries, paint over the primer with the acryilic latex and you'll get a nice solid coating. A few extra steps, but worth it IMO
