I have been working with my autofeeder for a couple of weeks now and although colorbits work fine flake does not. I need to keep it under the hood and the flakes get soggy, so I need to hook up the airline connection to it.

I don't run air now at all, so I don't have a source to tap into. I do have a number of air pumps around and I will try to use the smallest that I have. Am I correct that these devices only need a small amount of air for the purge? Do you just pull the hose off when you want to remove it for filling, or has someone figured out a simple quick-disconnect? My concern is that after a while the connection will get loose.

What kind of autofeeder do you have? I have a hydor and my cheapo $5 pump works great but it isnt under the hood.

The Eheim auto feeder is pricey but it doesn't tend to clump up like the others. Then again, I don't know if it would if kept under the hood.
