I dont know about the teeth and have never had an angel nip me, but my discus nipped me when I was getting a water sample one time! lol They got a little excited thinking it was feeding time I think! They sure are stronger than I thought tho! Was quite a punch! http://www.websmileys.com/sm/sport/sport25.gif

Discus and angels certainly have teeth. As cichlids, they also have a secondary jaw-like structure in the throat and I think they have teeth there too. I once saw an x-ray photo of a cichlid and it looked something like the creature from "Alien."

If Ms. Splotches ever gets a boyfriend you may feel those teeth quite a bit. I once had a spawning pair of angels and whenever they had eggs I'd wear a rubber glove when I put my hand in the tank.

Wow! I didn't realize! So that goes for German blue rams too? I know whenever I have those and they are spawning I get beat up by the male! One time he went after me so bad I had to take my arm out of the tank and clumsily hold the tube (python) from out of the water to try to clean the tank lol. Those little guys are tough!

Looking at some Web pages, there is contradictory information about whether discus have teeth in their mouths. Their genus name is Symphysodon, which means "teeth grown together," sometimes rendered as "teeth in the middle of the jaw." I'm not quite sure what that means, but I think most carnivorous fish have teeth, including angels. Since most fish don't have movable lips, you can't see their teeth, especially on a smallish fish. But I bet they're in there.

I know bettas have teeth. My grandmother had a betta that she used to hand feed by putting pieces of frozen brine shrimp on her finger. One day the betta latched onto her finger and apparently got his teeth stuck. She pulled the silly fish right out of the water...he couldn't let go.
