I recently bought a 90 gall tall (2' wide, 2' deep, 3'tall) tank for my discus.
I was wondering if I will need anything else to make it a successful planted tank?
So far i have flourite for gravel, a 135 watt compact floresent for light and a co2 reactor chamber.

Hi there,

If you intend to use the CO2 then you will need more light, a single 250W metal halide pendant works well on this type of tank, failing that you will need to add another 135W fitting.

you need more light.
At the vary least 200W over that. 250-300Watts would be a good target.

WOW, 36" tall?, you are going to have a very hard time getting to the bottom of the tank for planting/maintenance, etc. Even with 4 inches of substrate you will need a ladder and 32 inch arms unless you use tongs for everything. I can barely reach the bottom of my 30 incher. I agree with the previous posts, you need a lot more lighting. Depending on type of lighting, I would say around 360 watts with a tank that tall.
