Repairing crack

I have a 150 gallon that has a crack on the bottom from front to back. I want to put a piece of glass down over it and silicone it there. It appears that the tank's glass is 1/2 inch. Could I get away with 3/8 inch glass to repair the tank or should I get 1/2? It is a clean crack that runs from front to back. Seems like it should be easy. This is my first time repairing and I want to make sure I do it right. Any help appreciated.

Sorry Jim but IMO the only way to do it right is to take off the bottom frame and replace the glass with new ,it will cost you the same and be done right
