Here are two pics of my Bolivian Rams. I was thinking all were male. But now I am not sure. I have 2 that are always together, and one gets pushed out of the way.

Today when doing a massive water change, the two kept biting the siphon. THen after, they started moving the pebble size rock around and spitting it out like Africans do. They were mad. I think, from what I sucked up, they may have laid eggs!

Here is the pair:

And here is the loner. Can anyone tell me if they are male or female??

Hi Marilyn - gorgeous Bolivian Rams you got there. I've seen those b4 but am not too familiar with this strain though. Other bolivian ram experts will jump in later for sure.

Have fun with them,
Kenny

Thanks Kenny. I love them! Been wanting to get at least one more for the loner, but not until I know what to get. I was looking for German Blues, but the only to LFS near me had only these. Wish I had some of yours!!!!
I love the rams as much as the discus!!!

Marilyn,
Your picture is hard for me to see but they look like Mikrogeophagus ramierzi (Blue Rams) to me. Do they actually look likr this? That is Mikrogeophagus altispinosis (Bolivian Ram)

Marilyn,
Yeah, the dot is what made me wonder. Again I really can't see them well enough to give a definitive answer. However, since Kenny seems to think that they're Bolivians that's good enough for me. I think they are very similar to Blue Rams in their behavior. Harem brooders, which should best be kept with 3 females to a male. Here is a very good article (even if he does spell it incorrectly) http://www.cichlidae.com/article.php?id=31

Larry,
After reading the article and knowing my rams, I have 2 females and a male. The pair must have definitley laid eggs and were looking for them. I believe they have spawned more than once. Seems I need more rams!!! Thanks for the help!!
