This is the second spawn for this pair. They're in a community tank with other Discus and plecos. The hatch rate for the first spawn was very low and the babies were eventually lost. I'll see how this one goes, then I'll put them in their own tank.

The solid fish is the female, the striated one is the male.

Marie,
It's Alabama tap water - pH 7.4, 300 microsiemens, temp 82 F. If the hatch rate is poor again, I may try to lower the conductivity.

Ramon
That is great news. It seems that you are managing to create a balance that works well for the fish.
Great fish and photos

Marie,
I just realized that you may have been asking for the camera settings - sorry, I misunderstood.
If that's what you were asking:
I use a Canon Digital SLR.
Manual mode
Flash on
Shutter speed - 1/125 - 1/250 seconds
Aperture - f/14-22
ISO 100
I vary the shutter speed and aperture to get the exposure I want.
Anyway, looks like the hatch rate is much better for this batch.
Look at those babies - can't wait for them to attach.

Grow them to adulthood and see what this batch of F1's looks like and maybe choose future breeding stock from them...but I'm really just happy to have come this far even if they don't make it.

Any updates on the spawn. How are the fry doing?

I had to go out of town for a week, and when I got back, the spawn was gone.
They're fanning another clutch of eggs right now...and I have to leave again.
Ramon-congrats! Now that you got them going you should be getting a spawn sooner or later that will work out!
Nice job, beautiful fish!

Thanks Lynn.:)
I think it will work out too. I've waited a few years for a wild to wild spawn and am happy to have gotten this far.
