Here's a pic of my CRS...the only one to survive a week of postal delays...
I think i finally found something that is more picky about his food than discus... will eat nothing but the most expensive hikari foods...
but nonetheless.. he's cute... i like him :D

It is definatly a good quality CRS. Too bad he was the only one that made it :( It would be nice to have a breeding colony of at least a dozen to start with considering how hard they are to come by here in the states.

Ron,
Aren't you worried about it becoming "discus dinner"?

I was wondering about him getting eaten too...

I think Amber had bamboo shrimp in with her discus and they were okay. Amber??

I'd love to try some big shrimp in my tank.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Well... My bamboo shrimp and cherry reds seem to be doing alrite in the planted discus tank....i did think of putting him in with the discus, but on 2nd thought... it would be so sad to see him get eaten ... especially since he is the only survivor from a bombed shipment of 9 shrimp. Besides... he's real tiny right now... just compare him to the strands of java moss. Perhaps when he gets to be a bit larger (1" at least).

The person i got it from (overseas) is sending replacements. So hopefully they will get here ok. Hopefully i would be able to post some nice pics when they arrive.

Cheers!

Hi tim!
My CRS come from a breeder in Canada. I don't think i'll say how much i paid for them:angel: . But i can tell you that these ones are of very high grade and the market price is usually $30 - $80 per shrimp! Those that are labeled "SS" grade can cost anywhere between $100 - $1000. They are like the porche's of shrimp keeping.:D

But lower grade CRS will run anywhere between $3 - $10 per shrimp.

I hesitate to reccomned any one particular breeder because i don't have too much experience with them but take a look at aquabid>invertebrates and occationally, you'll find someone selling Crystal Red shrimp.

Cheers
Marc

Well i am glad u folks can keep shrimp. Mine end up boiled to death. I had 4 Bamboo shrimp in my Planted 125 and they were fully cooked when I found them!
