One of my Knight Gobies are missing guys:( It has not been a good day today....

He is not on the ground or in the filter ~ we checked ~ he is not dead and floating nor did the cats eat him as this is a ten gal tank and the openings are small and the cats are never up there and it isnt like the Gobies swim to the top for goodness sake and this is a very long sentence huh?

I am double sad this day ~ where the hell did he go??

Aw, Marie, I'm sorry your guy is MIA. Could he be hiding in something like a cave, behind a rock, etc?

Why is this a doubly sad day? What else happened to you, Gurl?

Keep us posted as to your guy...

By the way, Ms. M, I tried to subtly tell you in another thread your private messages file is FULL and can't take anymore. :(

can your goby bury him/herself?? Try sifting some sand around and maybe you'll stir him up.

Is it possible he jumped out? Also, what kind of filter do you have? Anything he could get sucked up in?

I was thinking the same thing, check any rock work too. If there is a body (sorry Marie) sometimes water current can wash it to a dead area in the tank. Also, the other fish, if he did pass on, could have eaten part of him so you may not find much.

Hopefully you'll find him safe and sound though.

Ok, worst scenario? Someone broke into your house last night and stole him. Gotta be! What else could it be, huh, huh? Unless he packed his bags and hitched a ride on some passing fly or something....oh heck, WHERE COULD HE BE??? You are so right--there aren't a lot of places to hide in 10 gallons!

Now you're getting me crazy about this....:(

Marie, I had a Cardinal disappear for a few weeks. Could not find that little bugger anywhere - I thought the filter sucked him up and digested him. Then, weeks later, I thought the school looked fuller, and sure enough, there was one more than there had been the last few weeks. Never did figure out where he was! I also had a Triggerfish when I had my SW tank, and a large piece of brain coral. It happened to have a small opening in the back. The Triggerfish used to squeeze himself into the brain coral thru that little hole and wedge himself in. Took me awhile to figure that one out! Hope your Goby turns up!

Wow Connie! At least yours surfaced again!! Check this out ladies:

Here is the ten gal tank! One can plainly see in there ~ he is quite simply GONE! Not in the teensy weensy filter ~ we checked!!

The only possible senario is he some how jumped OUT and landed on the floor and one of the cats ate him??

I wonder....

IS there a chance he could have jumped out? Cats aren't too slow when it comes to smelling fish.... Any openings in the tank top?

That is my guess. I have had this happen several times. My cats are quick to find jumpers. My cat even went hunting for a couple betta fish one night... we won't get into that here, though.

Fish, especially smaller fish, can fit through openings in hoods. You may not think so, but you'd be amazed. I've had fish escape out of holes in hoods that looked impossibly small.

If the fish was startled or frightened, it could've jumped ship and became cat food :(
