Hi all,
Simply discus is awesome! I don't know what I would do without it. I also don't know what I would do without the `Common Abbreviations Used in Posts' list. People commonly use abbreviations that are not on the list and if I spend time and thought studying the subject matter, I can sometimes work out what they mean. Sometimes the abbreviation is simply impossible to figure out and the thread loses some of the meaning. Could someone possibly update the list? Are people in such a hurry that words can't be spelled out so that those of us who are working hard to understand the hobby can follow the train of thought? :confused: Thanks for listening. Hey Martha ~

Are you talking about like BB for bare bottom and HITH for Hole In The Head...type abbreviations?

Or these: I know when I type I use for short....wld = would * dif = different * re = regarding ~

Or this: http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/im/giwist.gif *

http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/im/onnta.gif* http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/im/wdalyic.gif

You probably mean the first list ~

wc = water change

hth = hope this helps

There are tons more but I am like totally blank! I am sorry ~ I think others will pop along soon ~

It would probably be easier to post which ones you dont know when you see them in here and they could be answered because there IS so many.

I was the same way when i started and know exactly what you mean but you pick up the normal ones pretty quick ............. Its the ones that people post when they use theyre own individual Internet Shorthand (as i call it) that can be tough to figure out.

They can throw you for a loop sometimes ........... even the most simple ones .......... lol ......... I remember reading a thread and the same thing kept popping up and i was like ..........What The heck Is That!! .......... Took quite awhile to figure out something as simple as .......... mt = Empty. :p

And yes .......... for us self taught one fingered typers (i actually use one on each hand now ... lol ) ........ "Internet Shorthand" comes in handy sometimes.

lol has two different meanings. Either it means Laugh Out Loud or Lots of Love, depending on the context in which it is used.

That reminds me when I thought "hth" meant "hole in the head" LOL.

Then there's ROTFLMAO or "rolling on the floor laughing my a** off"
