Can BN take the temps of a heat treatment for discus? Say, 90F to 92F? I've tried doing a search but can't find anything specificly about this. If you've done this with BN in the tank please let me know how it went.
Thanks,

Kacey

i've had my tank at 88-89 w/plecos bn and red spot seems just fine. just make sure there's enough water areration. i have a C02 system on timer so after the lights go it the power head goes on.

I keep my albino bristlenose's at about 83 and that's a stretch. They do better in cold water (65) than warm water. I'd say that going over 90 for more than a day or two would really be pushing the envelope.

RoninGai,
I have a trickle filter on this tank so it should be fine for O2.
AnnieB,
I just read the sticky here before starting this thread and it said their native waters range from 70F to 90F. I don't know if 90F is something they can take only for short amounts of time or if that means a 92F two week treatment is safe since it's only 2 degrees above their normal range.
If anyone has direct experience using high heat treatments with BN's in the tank, please let me know how it went.

my tank stays around 85-88 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the summer (I don't have A/C) with no problems with parent BNs or babies.

88ºF seems to work for me.

I've had the tank at 92F for a week now and so far no probs. I lowered it to 89-90after 7 days and will leave it there for a week before lowering it to their usual temp. Both BN in the tank are eating and acting as usual.
