Hi all,
Been working on crossing a wild Peruvian scalare to my line of domestic angels and had a pretty good success here..

I know they aren't discus...:) but still pretty psyched...The offspring are a bit hyper and hard to photograph...but if anyone likes angels heres some pics..

Hi Al, I love Angels, almost as much as I love Discus. I've never been without an Angel! That shot of the whole tankful of them is great - they are adorable and they will have SOME finnage, that's for sure! One of my dreams has been to have a big tank with a bunch of them in there. They are just so ornery, though! Thanks for sharing the pics.

Al,
Keep those angel pictures coming, I breed more angels than I do discus of course that is until I get enough discus to equal out the angels. :D

Great colours and shape Al, should be quite something, very nice. Now if you were to cross the fry back with another wild scalare....

Hi Al,

Beautiful fish and in impressive numbers! What would you say are the primary differences between angels and discus, other than appearance, of course???

Best,

jack

Hi Andrew,
make some room and let me know;)

Hi Paul..

Now if you were to cross the fry back with another wild scalare.... That my friend is part of the plan:)

Hi Jack,
Theres actually alot more similar than different about the two,IME... that was pretty clear to me after some Discus pairs I had raised a few spawns of Angels. They are a really great fish to play around with... I have always found them to be prolific breeders and tolerant of a wider range of water to breed in than discus...

They also tend to me more of a mid water feeder than Discus are bottom feeders.....

thanks for looking,
al

Al, great looking fish good luck to your sale. It's about time you need to let go of some of these beauties...we don't want you to "drown" in angels lol.:):D (have seen your angel frys tanks before)

Have fun Al,
Kenny

And just think, you used to care nothing about angelfish :D LOL yep its true......but I still gravitate more to the wilds and wild crosses... This particular cross is really something... I've never had a group grow so fast... I'm probably going to shift directions here and work with this line ...that plus the domestic line of zebra lace .. 2 pairs max...thats already buried me in these angels!

Kenny,
Thanks my friend... why don't you get a tank set up and I'll send you some to play around with.......You know ...Misery loves company!!:D

HI all,
Thought I'd post some updated photos on this cross.. Its been real interesting seeing what these develop into. Basically I have 2 phenotypes... I got a group that are some absolutely beautiful silvers and a group of what I can best describe as dark zebra spotted.. I hadn't expected such uniformity as the domestic parent was a zebra laceX clown...

anyhow...I'm real pleased and will definetly be working on these lines some more...

whatcha think?:D

here the silvers....sorry for the photo quality they really reflect the light

  Al, you definititely have reason to be proud. I have always liked the dark zebra types, but those silvers are spectacular! Looks like they have alot of metalic green in their fins. It is neat to see someone working with a wild line. Perhaps these will exhibit some better parental care than domestics commonly seen.
