HI all,:)
Can you please ID the 2 orange discus? They were sold to me as red passion, but they look more like red melon to me. What do you think? Hope the pics are good enough. It took me forever to resize them!!!!

I would say Yellow Face Red Melon. Red Melons normally have white faces I thought. Its an of shoot of the same strain. I've heard similar looking fish to me called Gold Sunrise as well.

Actually, they used to have white faces and I was told that if I did not feed them any anasthaxin (spelling????) and similar products, their faces would remain white. Since this stuff is in virtually all discus food, it's very hard to avoid!!!! So this is what they look like now. I don't mind. They are by far the most beautiful fish in my tank. :D:D:D

Hi Cam, there are yellow faced RMs and also white faced RMs. I have one of each. My yellow faced was meant to have a yellow face, it didn't happen because of her food :D

Hi all:)

They are between 4 and 5 inches and still growing. What's funny is that they used to be more red and their faces were very white. They were gorgeous. They are still very pretty, but it's a shame I could not keep them the way they were. It's just impossible to find food without that ingredient which makes their faces turn orangeish :(

The comments point out how meaningless commercial names are.

I agree a 100%, I would just say they are a Red Mellon.

Red passion is originated from a crossing of snow white and rose reds. For your melons, its from golden pigeon and virgin reds
