Well it all dpends if you are using a bb tank or a planted tank. If you are using a bb tank then a dimmer light will be better for your discus. If you have a planted tank then I know that some live plants require brighter light to thrive so if this is the case then you will have to go with the brighter light.

I use standard fluorescents over my tanks. Whatever comes in the strips that I buy.

i dont have plants but i use a Coralife Aqualight dual bulb T5 fixture. I took out the 6700 K and put in a 10000K bulb. looks pretty good.
