my discus is very shy is this normal ?

Discus being shy is not uncommon but you need to give us more information. How many discus do you have? How long have you had them? How big is this discus that is shy? What size tank do you have them or it in?

Even well acclimated and tame discus can have pointless panic attacks or shy periods.
It is just worse if the fish are new and/or few in number.

It all depends on your set up. How many discus you have, tank temp, gravel or bb, water parameters. Can you give us more info?

i have 1 discus with a pleco and they seem to get along just fine water temp is 86 degrees ph about 7.2 - 7.4 i have had him for about 1 month and he is about 2-3 inches he is curently in a QT tank till i get my main setup going im waiting on parts from the net

Do you plan on getting more? I started out with one discus and he was miserable until I added five more. The change in his behavior was amazing! I don't recommend fewer than six unless you have a breeding pair because they find security in numbers. How big will your main setup be? You're going to want at least a 55 gal. tank for discus.
