Will this work for a Bulkhead?? I went to a plumbing shop today to buy a bulkhead I needed to replace. They had PVC sch 80 bulkheads. But the OD was to big for the hole drilled in my tank. So I found this one pictured below. Has anyone ever seen or used one of these for a bulkhead? It looks safe to me. Let me know what you think . I think it is made of poly? Watts makes them.

Thanks for your time!

Best way to find out is install it and give it a go.

I have those all over the place up to 3''. They work great, but have a tendency for the nut to stick a bit, just try it 1st.

I just put it in. Seems to be working fine. I was just curious if the Bulkhead being made of Poly was a big deal or not. The schedule 80 one was like 25 bucks. The OD looked to big also. I seen that one and it was 10 bucks and seems to be ok. My other bulkhead cracked on me. It's weird cause that one was an Oceanic one that was pretty thick itself. oh well i guess out with the old in with the new :) The plumbing shop I went to was pretty cool though. I am going to hard line my wet/dry filter and the thread custom PVC parts to size. So I got some threaded unions a ball valve and some pipe threaded and I'm going to set it up :) I'm a nerd but it makes me happy..lol. It will make it easier to service/disconnect/clean with threaded schedule 80 PVC pipe. Thanks all for the help.

S80 is complete over kill on an aquarium. I don't even use it on the ponds 5000gallons or in the holding tanks for the koi and they are 2500 and 750 gallons each. The bulkhead that you're now using is just fine for all applications, even some outdoor ones. It's just a cheaper commerical unit.

You can see one installed in the lower section of this barrel

If I want a smaller profile bulkhead than the one that you're using I'll use male/female PVC fittings with an O ring or gasket

Wow that looks cool! I like the way you made that overflow out of the PVC. I'll have to keep that in mind for the future!
