Has anyone ever used this kind of driftwood? It's called Mopani Wood. Here is a pic I took with my phone:

I'm just curious about it. I have to boil it before I put it in the tank....right?

Here is a link for it at Petsmart:

Not sure if it would be ok or not. Please let me know :)

Mopani is fine for Discus tanks. Boiling will slightly reduce the amount of tannins it will release initially but there is no harm in it. It will only stain the water like a strong tea color. This diminishes over time and can be removed with carbon if the tint is objectionable. The discus actually like it.
I just rinse the dust off and use it as is.

I'm looking for more driftwood for my tank-it's hard to get used to BB tank.I've had problems anchoring artificial plants in place.I've tried plant anchors wrapped around base stems & filter can still move them.I now silicone white gravel in base cup & they stay in place.
I'm a bit concerned about adding more driftwood as I've got Ph stable(7.2) from tap & after aging 24 hr.'s.I really don't want to get back into trying to adjust Ph due to the driftwood.I started my tnk with the idea (from books) that I had to keep Ph around 6.5.-Life has gotten much easier with out the stress of cemically altering Ph!
I guess I'll justbuy a piece of driftwood & throw it into my aging tank of water & see what happens to the Ph after 24 hr.'s
Good luck with your fish!

Mopani wood is fine. It even sinks either immediately or soon after you place it in the tank.
