My Discus beg all the time so I drop a few pieces of food in and they gulp it up. Are they really hungry or just being pigs? I`ve given them veggie flakes at times because they chase my plecos away from their algae tablets and hog them up.These guys get Discus pelltes,Discus Flakes,Bloodworms,Brownworms, mysis shrimp and frozen Discus mix BUT they seem to LOVE the greens!!!

How old are they? Young discus generally will eat alot until over one year old in my case. Hey the more they eat the better and faster they grow; just like kids. Keep up the w/c and you might get yourself some beautiful 6"+ discus in couple of years. :) On a seriously note they can go without food for weeks in some cases so they won't starve if you feed them less. Some parents like "big and healthy" children and some parents watch their kids' diet. At least you have the peace of mind knowing you got healthy discus.

Mine are still Juvis so they`ve got a lot of growing to do.

Mary,
Thats the sign of some healthy young ones.....feed them often.... and be sure to gauge how much you feed them as well... Everyone does this differently, but on youngsters I like to see their bellies full..

good luck,

LOL that's why I call all my discus finned pigs!:D

They get fed about 2-3 times a day with various foods and when the bottom of the tanks still has food left I call it good to go and don't feeed em anymore that day, I may be a bit odd on my routines but I still do my w/c's every other day and as far as I can tell all mine are kinda like me "fat dumb and happy" LMAO

When my guys were little, I fed them 4 - 6 times a day. Not heavily, but small meals every few hours. I would also drop in "snacks" of flake food when I walked by the tank and they begged. I kept up with my w/c and they grew really nicely, so I guess I wasn't doing anything wrong :D

I think there is a corelation between discus eating and health. Eager eaters are healthy and grow well. Picky eaters tend to get sick easier and do not grow well. Don T.
