View Full Version : least likely to pepper?

Hello--

I am setting up a 200 g with black background and black sand. I know that this combination will cause some darkening of the discus and pepper PBs.

What would my best color / strain choices be in that set up to minimize the dark color and peppering?

Thanks,

Matt

I think a red based non PB based fish would look striking...:D

Which red strains are not pigeon-based?

Turquoise and brown discus look fantastic in dark tanks(far better than in modern style light tanks imo), if you prefer something lighter then the various albinos might be a good choice.

I have the same tank style with black background and black sand. Would a white butterfly pepper up?

Most likely yes, pepper free wb's are exceedingly rare.

try some rose reds if you can find them. or..san marahs. or yes..the albino strains dont pepper. but alot of the albinos are still high in price.

You could go with Discus Sanctuary's White Palominos which are and improved strain of white butteflies and are quaranteed to not pepper.

I was looking at Discus Hans's site and thought I might go primarily with something like Fire Reds with a couple big Red Turqs or Red Scribbelts. I also liked the Red Melons on Dan's site, but it looks like he does not have any 5-6" stock at the moment...

Thoughts?

Here are some non-PB based Red fish...These are 3R2

Red Melons are PB based Red fish...

Best is to go in a tank like that with Brilliants, Red Turquoise, Red Scribbled, Alenquer, Santarem, Snake Skins (Red, Flachen or Blue) Cobalt, Flachen.

You've to contact one of our resellers,

Best regards,

Hans
