Hello.... Can anyone guess as to what type of Discus this would be? I bought it a while ago when it was very small and it was supposed to be a yellow diamond...... needless to say it isn't unless its some throwback to one of it's ancestors... I'd say more probably a stray got in the yellow diamond tank. In any case it is kind of off white with a pink hue to it and I thought it might be a pigeon but it doesn't really have any pepper.... more of a speckled variety of scales.... anyone have an idea or seen something similar to it?
BTW- That's a red pigeon that it paired off with... who knows what the offspring would turn out like but it's in one of the community tanks so the fry won't be there long.

Mike, do you think it's just off color due to diet?

Hi Jose,
I don't think so.... it never did look yellow.... but maybe.... I do feed them some Omega One super color flakes when they aren't getting beefheart or bloodworms...oh, and some mysis shrimp sometimes.

OK, just a thought. :)
He's a snow white cross, or derived from snow white gene anyway. I've a good friend who breeds quite a few snow white types and have seen similar looking discus there.
Hard to know what you'll get by crossbreeding, both the snow white and pigeon gene are dominant......i'd guess a mix of types and qualities.

Hello Mike, I also agree with Rod and Al. They looked like some kind of White/Red White crossed with blues or pigeons.

Hi Rod, Al and Kenny,
Thanks guys.... I did a search on "Snow White" and "Snow fire" and this one looks like it's not as white as the snow white, and not as red as the snow fire... but does look like it would be something in between.... maybe with the Red Pigeon cross the pair will throw some of each?.... I couldn't help myself...I have new fry on my select LSS pair right now that are a few days older than these so I siphoned some of the fry off the overflow box and they are being fostered by the LSS's. I guess I'll find out what they grow into.... in about a year :)
