I've been invited to fish a four day marlin tournament, interstate in N.S.W. and will be leaving tomorrow. So, l have been asking my 14 year old son Mathew to help me do the water changes and feed my discus over the last week or so. He has taken an interest in this challenge, and has offered to continue the programme for me while l am away. FANTASTIC! He asked me to take some photos today, to compare them to the ones l take when l get back. He is sure they will continue to grow well, while l am away, and understands the consequences of over feeding. Unfortunately he starts back at school tomorrow, so l am also employing the help of a 'Fish Mate 14' fish feeder. I am using this device to feed 3 times daily, pellets only. I have been trialing it over the last 3 days and it seems pretty reliable. Frozen food will be fed before and after school.
Also, you can see that some of the fish have distinctive patterns and some do not. Will they all look the same once they grow into adults? Or, are they different strains?

Joe, u can't have ur son take care of ur fish. The reason? Mine won't. He doesn't have not one ounce of interest in my fish. That is NOT fair...lol..
They sure look different to me. Looks like different strain. But, not sure. Have fun on ur trip,(if u can). Hope u catch lots of fish!!! I won't be fishing. Its -6 degrees here!!!

Hi There Eileen.:)
Too bad not being able to get help from your son! It's a bonus finally having some 'back up'.
The weather has been around 25-32 degrees celcius latley, so l'm looking forward to spending some time on a boat, and hopefully tag and release some marlin.
THe fish are very different to each other. it will be interesting to hear what people here think.

Keep warm now.:D:D:D

Hi Every one. I'm back! I arrived in the wee hours of this morning and couldn't resist a peak at my fish before catching up on some sleep. I am pleased to say that Mathew did a fantastic job looking after my fish while l was away. THANKS MATTY.:D
The fish are a little scared of me at the moment and go hiding behind the filter, but come out with their happy faces when Mathew enters the room.:(
He maintained water changes and feeds as l requested, and the Automatic feeder also worked a treat.
Man, my discus looked alot bigger today. Must be 'cause l haven't seen them in 4 days......maybe l should go away more often?;)

Matty passes on his thanks, and is pretty happy with it all, questioning everything l do in relation to both my tanks. Think we may have another Discus Hobbyist coming our way.

Eileen, l am a mad keen fisherman, and don't want to start here 'cause you'll never stop me, but, l have started thread on Fishing here, and have put in a small report about my lates trip.

Check it out.;)
