hi all
so i tried to raise juvies in a planted tank
not a good idea but i thought it would work
plants are not happy
anyway can i use a 20 bb for now
and use one of those corner filter with some filter floss
for now

You could. But only six or eight to about 2-1/2 inches, or for, six to 3-inches.
If you want them to reach 4-inches it be better to use a 40 gallon breeder or a 55 show. The 40 has an additional 100 sq inches more surface area than a 55 show despite it holds 15 fewer gallons. I don't like the 55 show because it doesn't have as much surface area as a 40 or standard 50. Two twenty longs would also do the job if you want to grow them larger. At four inches, most discus will transition well to a planted tank and complete their full growth.
