I have a 20 Gallon High 24x13x16 TruVu Acrylic tank that I plan to setup for two 2 to 3 inch Discus. I am doing research now, but don't have Discus yet. Would this be too small for them? It seems 55 gallon is smallest recommended, but I don't money or space for a bigger tank.

Planning 20 Gallon high, Aquaclear 70 or 20 HOB, heater. Coralife T5 24watts with ColorMax.

Forgot to mention, it will be bare-bottom and plantless. The TruVu has blue background so it'll be nice.

Most recomend having 5 discus, 5 is to much for a 20 or 29. I have 4 in 29s, It is not ideal but it can be done. 29 or bigger would be better than a 20. Only 2 discus can cause problems. They like to chase each other and one would get picked on all the time.

Thanks, let me reconsider my setup. Do you recommend HOB or just sponge filter?

I have both in mine. HOB helps filter wastes out the tank.

A 20H is an excellant tank for mated pair only.
