I have to look for T8 bulbs for my lighting fixtures, which K will bring out best colors with my Marlboro and Melon Reds? No plants in my tank. Plan to get red blood Pigeons and snake type discus later.

Some people prefers 5500k, 6700k?

If you're not going to have plants, I'd go w/ the lowest wattage. My discus do not love the light at all.

If you have the two lamp option in your fixture the one 6700K lamp and one Coralife ColorMax should bring out your discus colors well and grow plants if that is your wish.

My lighting is only single fixture and it'll be T8, also I only plan on 18watts to 15 watts, since I don't have any plants.

So are their more preferences for 5500k, 6500k or 6700k?

I would go with anything between 6500K and 10,000K. The latter is good if you are only using one lamp. The fish look good and the tank will be well lit for only a single lamp.
It isn't too much light and some floating plants are always a good idea in a discus tank. They can seek out the shade if they feel like it. I'm using a single T-5 NO, 21 watt, 10,000K 36-inch fixtures over all six of the new 40 gal breeders tanks I just set up and it is plenty of light.

Do you have any Red or yellow discus? Curious at your lighting coloration with 10,000k.
