the bb is a 55 acrylic with 3 potted plants

so im looking for some pointers on how to make it look more pleasant
the back is painted a light green

I'd try to keep things as simple as possible for yourself while trying to grow them out.

Once they're healthy adults, consider adding decorations and compatible tankmates.

I always keep one Bn pleco with my discus and a few Tetras are good to have with your discus.
Having the sides and back painted is good but I also add about a liter of substrate to help conceal the bare bottom reflections. Potted and floating plants also help. Here is a tank with less than 1/4-inch of substrate. It is still as easy to clean as bare bottom tanks.
