New here. And I have discus. 4 discus.

I imagine your all very enthuastic about discus.

So heres the front situation so far: This would be the first time I've gotten discus (juveniles, like 6 months old, about the size of a tennis ball), like last sunday. Around a month ago I completely removed the carbon from my canister filter, so as to modify it into a purely biological. Since I heard carbon removes important trace elements etc.

Its a 130 gallon planted tank (500L). Since the day they came in, they showed fairly vivid stress bars but were bright in color (not dark) and they fed voraciously. All they eat is blood worms. Frozen blood worms. Lots of frozen blood worms. What else should they be eating? They don't like the sight of flakey food.

Discus feel much more confident in large packs right? Perhaps I should get up to 8 more.

Many thanks.

You should try to get them to eat other foods. ( flake, pellet, color bits etc) Most frozen foods are 90% water.
Try the other food 1st thing in the morning and maybee even mix it with the FBW.
Carbon will not remove trace elements. It is not neccisary but will not hurt either. Don T.

4 discus in a 130 gallon tank is not enough, the poor guys probably feel lost in a tank that size. I would have at least 10 discus in a tank like that.

Hmm ok.

At the moment I buy from some local fish store.

I somehow think that buying direct from a good discus breeder would be better. Anyone know any around Sydney, Australia? Internet search doesn't seem to be very effective.

Welcome to Simply TW. I'd go for at least another half a doz in a 500l, definately prefer being in packs.
Don't know about breeders in sydney, homebreds the way to go if you can find a good local breeder, otherwise try Darren at A1 aquarium fish in Townsville, he sponsers here and imports excellent discus.
