Hi. I am new to this site and hoping to find out info. to help with starting a Discus tank.

I am not knew to keeping fish, but am new to Discus. I am looking to start a display tank and have a few questions. I would like to use sand as a substrate, is that ok or should I go with gravel? Is it best to have live plants or fake? What should the levels in the tank be such as PH etc.? Also, I do have a freshwater tank that already has fish (1 Blue Gourami,1 tetra, 3 long finned zebra danios, and 3 cory cats) would they be ok to put in with the Discus?

Sorry for asking quite a few questions. I know I have more to ask just can't think of them right now. If there is any other good info, please feel free to add.

Thanks
