I am about to do a preventative treatment with metro, then a dewormer and then prazi pro. Do any of these medications displace oxygen?
Would I be safe to run CO2 with any of these treatments or should I turn it off? Also does UV sterilization break down any of these medications?

Why are you treating? What are you preventing? Do you believe the fish to be sicK?

My advice would be not to treat unless there is a specific reason. All meds use O2 to some extent and UV will break down most meds so should be turned off as should CO2.

I agree 100% with Paul....do not use antibiotics or chems when they are not needed.

I was going to medicate, because I just added discus to the tank and read somewhere to always deworm new discus. I would have to do the deworming in the main tank as I can not have a quarantine tank. The water limit in my apartment complex is 50 gallons and I have a 50 gallon tank. I see both of your reasoning and will not medicate unless I see a probem.
I am new to discus and am probably a little pyranoid.

Hi You might do a de-worming if they were wild but domesticated, shouldn't need iit...

Thanks grahm. They are domestic and from an excellent source. I will follow your advice.
