Ok, I'd like to keep my worm cultures in a small fridge or wine cooler....I have a small combo fridge/freezer to use if the fridge temp can be controlled high enough to keep the worms (am setting it up now to try out)....BUT..will there be enough air inside for them, or do I have to introduce air into the fridge?? TIA,

Dottie ;)

In the warm months I ALWAYS keep my worms in a container in the fridge without air with no problem at all. I just put in enough water to just cover them. Keep them cold and they will be fine....Bill

I keep wws in the fridge. I dont expect much and I dont get much. Once in a while feeding to breeders seems to increase brood size though..

Gee Dottie, my red wigglers like it hot! Sounds good for the white worms, though.

Bought a fridge thermometer....fridge range in F* is 32-40* & mine is at the bottom 32*...so much cooler than you guys are reporting...50-55* is in the warm region.I do have a very small fridge/freezer, so may plug it in & see if I can get it to 50--55*...maybe that'll help....thanx everyone....

Liz, my wigglers are in the fishroom in plastic boxes & it's very warm & they seem to be reproducing well now (new culture, first one crashed prob due to my neglect, lol)....

32 F Brrrrr, too cold. Gotta hit that sweet spot between 50 f and 60 f or so. Once you get around 70 f, too warm.

My WW's stay around 40f to 42f and do fine. They don't reproduce as fast as they would at 50f but they keep my breeders in WW's.

My white worms stay in the basement about an inch off the floor and it stays around 58 to 60 degrees down there in which my white worms do really well.

Well Kacey, my mini-fridge will not go above 47-48* & stay on, just shuts off...wasn't goin' to use it, but since your's are that low, maybe mine will be ok too....need to get rid of the tiny fleas/flies/bugs, lol...

Hi Dottie,
That's why I put mine in the fridge too. I couldn't keep the bugs out any other way.
