Has anyone here heat their fishroom with a ventless natural gas heater instead of using individual in-tank heaters? I figure that this may be more cost effective way instead of the 20+ in-tank heaters.

Any comments on ventless heaters in general?

We use a ventless gas heater in the fish room but only during the winter months. Also, it is only operated when someone is present as a supplement to the in tank heaters. Despite the ventless operation, it will still use a lot of the oxygen in the room and you will notice it if you operate it constantly. Even if you have a very small area that is well insulated, I don't think you could use a ventless heater exclusively to heat your tanks. And again, it will use up the oxygen in the room.

I would use a space heater instead. The space heater will dry the air some so you dont have to worry about mold as much..
