What do you think? 72g bow, flourite for planting, xp3, white sand "rapids". Lots of plants and 3 types of tetras (15-20 each) will be the plan with complete pressurized CO2. Right now I just left the BN plecos and the sterbai in to keep the filter up. Moved the discus to their new home in the BB 85g with driftwood. Thinking about adding another rock with height to the scape. Kinda cloudy right now after the addition of the sand.

Thanks, yeah, been wanting to set up a planted tank for a while. Had to wait until we finished our move.

Yup, currently have an order in to Rex. Gonna go with the full pressurized setup with a 10lb tank. Gonna do ferts also. My plan is to load the tank with plants right away.

Well then might I suggest a hairgrass theme with a riccia carpet? ;) :D :D

Maybe slope the substrate away from the pool sand going from thin to thick in both directions. Maybe start with an inch around the pool sand and then get gradually thicker to the edges of the tank. Kinda like a road or a stream between two hills with hairgrass an riccia planted on the hills. Leaving the pool sand bare :)

Just an idea...;) :D

Sounds good, I heard riccia can be a pain. I plan to go with some tall ones behind the rocks and then smaller stuff nearer the river. I do like the slope idea though. I was trying to give height to that side and the slope would do it. May still add one tall rock behind the groups.

I think you have the right idea with a tall rock in the back, it will add depth and contrast.
I like Bastalkers suggestions, gave me an idea for one of my planted tanks (thanks)
I've had good luck with Red-Spotted Ozalot and Kliener Bar as background plants, I love the colorful leaves and they do well at 84-86 degrees.

Lol, go figure...my sterbais decided to lay eggs all over the tank. First time I have sen them do it. They are over a year old for sure. Picked up my CO2 tank today and built my rex grigg reactor.
