Powerhead specifications

Unfortunately for me I have the crazy desire to have all my water change equipment in the basement under my 1st floor where my tank is. I'm a victim of aesthetics.

Anyone have any good ideas on how I could get a powerhead, or other method for the fill line to span what is likely to be 14 vertical feet?

For starters no powerhead will do what you want, you'll need a pump.

Figure exactly what you'll need in turns of plumbing and you can use this calculator to figure out you needs. Just enter the lenghts, couplings, unions etc and see what pumps will work for you.
