I have a bare bottom tank that I am growing out 6 juviniles in.... there seems to be a little build up on the bottom that the water vacum will not pick up... how do you clean this up?

Or, add an albino bushy nose pleco or two and never wipe again. The paper towels do add a little debris as little pieces of it disperse through the tank.

What kind of paper towel would be best?

Is a sponge an option?

I use this type of filter pad in my aquaclear filter. I just cut an extra small piece that I use for wiping down tanks.

I have many bristlenose plecos in other assorted tanks that are not bare bottom... with other types of tropical fish..

they create a lot of waiste... and I also here that they may suck slime... is any of this true... If not I may consider the pleco thing for cleaning the bottom..

Hi,

Paper towel can sometime have acids in them to soften the pulp. BN Plecos are great and will rarley try to feed on adult discus, night light should burn 24 7 to help prevent that. Make sure you clean your plecos first ie internals. They do create waste but that can be siphoned off alot faster than trying to scrape protien build up. Anyone have some albino BN for sale?? Thx Ed

I used to use paper towels but just use a good sized Aquaclear HOB filter sponge now.

Nobdy suggests the scrubber used to clean to sides? The sponge on a stick works great!

We use household sponges but just make sure and read the label when you purchase them. Make sure they don't have any soap or anything like that in there.

You can buy the "alge pads" for $1 to $2 mailorder. I have a seperate one for each discus tank, Same with syphons. Pads and syphons cheap, Discus expensive. Don T.
