Rattling Eheim 2028

Hey all---I just picked up an Eheim 2028 canister filter. I put it together myself (big mistake since i'm not that technically inclined..lol)--when i start it up there is a rattling sound...any ideas on that? i checked the impeller, and that seems to be in order. thanks!

Can be from too little water in the canister, did you fill it to the top before priming?

MSD, i did. i actually pre-filled the canister, primed it a few times, saw water come out of the output and turned it on---it was definitely filtering and outputting water, its just the rattling which i can't figure out.

Then you have to go back and check that the baskets are in right, the strainer and pad are in the right order, and recheck the impeller and make sure all is tight and the rubber is on both side of the impeller shaft. I sometimes use a drop of vaseline to lube the gaskets to insure an airtight fit. I use the same filter and it is very reliable but you have to make sure all of the rubber gaskets are lightly lubed.
