Hi, I've had this 180 gal non planted acrylic tank for four years now and recently switched to discus. The light sitting on top of the tank is 48" long w/ 2x40w aquarium bulbs. While I know lighting is a matter of taste I don't feel it's enough. While the light seems ok in the center, either side of the tank seems dim. It may sound redundent, but another reason for upgrading the light is that it's near impossible to take decent photos of the fish.
Any suggestions for the next step up that wouldn't break the bank? Any input would be appreciated. Oh yeah, the picture on the left is a better representation of what the current lighting looks like-Chris

You'd have to measure the length of your tank.

More then likely you'll have to get two shorter fixtures. Like 2 36" fixtures or 2 24" fixtures. All depending on the length.

For what I think you are looking for 2- 36" 2 T8 bulb fixtures should be enough. Unless I misunderstood the situation.:)
