Will a bare bottom tank make my discus skittish(afraid) ?

i cant paint the bottom. tank is to big

Might take them longer to settle in...

You can always tape construction paper or card board to the botton. I wound up taping cardboard under my 125G and it worked great.

I also just taped construction paper to the bottom of my 125 and the fish are fine. I may add sand later on to the tank but right now as they are still in the growing phase, BB works best to keep the tank nice and clean.

How big is your tank? You can go buy white, blue, poster board at Walgreens for $1.19 that is 22x28. I bought the blue one and used it as my background on my 25 gallon. Looks better than all aquarium backgrounds you can buy.

If you tape a lighter color to the bottom, it will brighten up the tank, showing the fishes colors better. Just in my experience.

indeed, how big is your tank? i painted the back of my 125 and it only took a can and a half to coat it well.
