I am setting up a 75 gallon BB discus tank. How many juvies can I put in there to grow out? How many adults will it comfortably hold?

Also, what filters should I use? What size? What brand?

Thanks!

If you use the general rule, 10G for every adult discus, so for 75, you can keep 7 adult discus. If you will grow out juvies to be adults then stick to 8, unless you want to move them later on. But from what I read here, 75G might be a bit big for juvies to grow out (55G is a better one).

I have 11 discus in a 75 for growout, when they get a lil bigger im going to move 5 of them into a 55..

I'd growout 12 in a 75. Use 2 Hydro V sponge filters. Feed like crazy and do 100% WCs from tap everyday. ;)

I would do 10 pretty comfortably feedin em like crazy with 50% WC each day. In a few months you can cull 1 or 2 if you need to. If you dont need to thats all the better. As long as yer doin WC's each day they will do just fine.

If you are faithful to 40% daily water changes, you can keep 10 adults in a 75. If you can't commit to that, I'd say 7.

Hey Matt, how about 100%? I'd keep 12 while doing 100 everyday. Sure some will grow slower than others but isn't that true with 7. As they got larger I'd move them and probably only have 8 or 9 in the end.

Me in 75g, no less than 6 and no more than 8. Daily WC no less than 25%.

Eddie,

If you are just growing them out, I don't see a problem. I said 10, meaning adults. I've kept 20-22 adults for periods in a 100 gal Long laying the discus on their sides at water change time every day.

Definitely, thats the ticket! If my fish aren't laying on their sides, I ain't changing enough water! ;)
