I want to create a "root" effect in my 46g show tank. I have obtained some old dry manzanita with some excellent bends and bows. I would like to have them coming down from the surface to create this look. My question is how I prepare the wood. I know I need to clean it well but is there anything else I need to do to it. The manzanita came off of a hillside and had been sitting there dead for over a year...I guess I am just concerned about oils, color, or other things of nature getting into the tank. How long should I soak it for? Do you think it will sink or do I need to "attach" it to the bottom somehow?
