This is part of my very drawn out super super high tech 100 gal I'm starting
from scratch

No more room under the aquarium for a chiller ????

No problem. Just put it in the wall.
Wall behind aquarium backs up to the garage. So the chiller sticks
out into the garage about 15" but doesnt interfere with anything.

Hot air from chiller will vent into garage too. ;)

Excuse a dumb question, but . . . Can you tell me what the purpose / need is for a chiller? I noticed that you have heaters in the sump you posted on a different thread, so I assume you're heating water, right?

Then a chiller? Thanks for clarifying. -Don

I thought it was for a Discus tank myself. Saltwater I guess...Bill

This is for Discus, but is also going to be a planted tank.
So going to be having never ending Goldey Lox chase of not too hot or not too cold.

I live in south Texas.
If I turn A/C off for the day while gone house easily gets into 90's
In summer water comes out the tap at 85+ degrees.
add in some Metal Halide lights and a nice big UV sterilizer and temps can quickly
spiral out of control in the summer.

I'm striving for a true hands off super high tech automated system.
Gonna need this chiller to keep my temps in check and keep from nuking
my plants in the summer which last 9 months down here.

If I was doing a BB straight Discus tank, then no I wouldnt be messing with
a chiller. But I want plants, so its gonna take some extra work and expense.

OK, now I see why you need it. 85F out of the tap? WOW! That's warm!. Looks like you thought it out pretty good...Bill

85F out of the tap? WOW! That's warm!.

Nothing like a nice big tall glass of luke warm water when you're hot, lol

YUCK!...I'm not really a "summer" person. I like it warm for about a week!...LOL Living down south would kill me!...Bill

I'm well ajusted use to AZ temps of 120 and colorado temps of -10.
a chiller used in saltwater cools the water down from the VHO lights that the corals need, as rbarn said he needs the chiller to cool down the tank.

I'm up here in the north part of texas, my cold water has 80.1 out of the bathroom sink, then I turned the hot 1/4 a turn and my temp shot up to 92.7
I'm scared of my tap. I haven't had a problem with my tap, but I think I'm going to age it in my 32 gallon rubber maid trash can I bought for fish use and find a RIO, mag to use as a pump to get the water out of the trash can.
