Just want to let everyone know that Heiko Bleher will be the speaker for the August meeting of COAST aquarium club in Costa Mesa, California. In fact, Heiko will be giving 2 talks.

This is a special event. We normally do not charge but we will be charging $10 a person at the door.

This is a once in a life time chance to come hear one of the modern adventurists who has collected all over the world.

If you need any additional info, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sorry you all. I just got back from a 11 dat trip to Aquarama (I was a judge) and Thailand.

If you go to the COAST website, you can buy tickets to the event. It will be $10 for tickets. Unfortunately, WE have to charge for this meeting. Although, Heiko has discounted his fee, as a club, we still can not afford to pay for him out of our treausery (as we dont have much in the treasurey!!!).

Everyone interested in going should read this message from Brian Dowining President of the COAST fish club. I wanted to make sure Tickets would be available at the door!
He responded:
Hi Rick, absolutely. Please ask them to arrive at 12:30 at the latest to ensure that we get everyone seated to begin on time. Thanks, Brian

It's already been over for 2 days but...

I had a great time at this event and am glad to have the chance to see and hear Heiko Bleher in California!

It was nice seeing Frenchie100 and Ricztahone again and it was good to meet Ricscics and Gotfish as well.

Gotfish took pictures and I think he'll email them to Ricztahone to post. If anyone from C.O.A.S.T. reads this I'd like to thank your organization for setting up this event.

It was really informative and extremely entertaining. Heiko was great and truly perhaps the most traveled well informed speaker in the business.
Amazing. Great to see and meet all the Simply Discus members . Heiko also took a picture of our group to post on his Web site I assume. Rick

I had a great time. I learned so much and is was good to get a better understanding of discus in their natural environment. The take home message I got was that I had to put white sand in my tank LOL!

Ricardo and Casper- It was great seeing you both.

Tien and Rick- It was really nice meeting you both. :)

Benedict- I am sure this meeting made it that much more difficult for you to part from your discus. I have a feeling you are going to have to set up a new tank once in the Philippines ;).

Meeting Heiko Bleher and listening to his presentation about biotopes was absolutely amazing.

The auction was pretty fun too. Thank goodness there were no discus :D.

They are doing great! They look that much better in my tank knowing that I had to fight for them, LOL! :D

Go get wilds and build a biotope!

Hi Guys,

this is really nice of you all, and specially (rickztahone), casper (casw), Tien (ewok), Julie (frenchie100), Benedict (gotfish?), Rick (rickscics) and Benedict,
you are great and thank you very much. For those nice comments and the pictures.

I had also paced a couple of the comments and pictures of most of you all at my website, look under:
http://www.aquapress-bleher.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=385&Itemid=1
(you can also see some picture from my June field trip in Australia, no discus, but an amazing neck-bending fish - the only one on earth).

I had a long flight back on Monday, but I guess some of you also came from far, but made it well back aswell, as I can see.

Sorry I could not show the informative videos, still do not undertsnd why their beamer did not transmit, but surely the next time I will show it.

You now take care (as I explained) of these nice discus, you and the fishes will enjoy it much more,

you all keep up the good work, also in the Philippine (where I should go soon to lecture, officially invited, but date not set), and hope to see you all soon again,

always from a collector and (also) discus lover,

Heiko Bleher

People should start video taping meetings and lectures like Heiko's and post them on youtube. Every fish club should have a guy/gal in charge of taping these meetings/lectures. It would be good for the hobby.

Not all speakers want that, neither would I.

this is for a few reasons, some people get paid for their talk and it's a kind of income. We never ask money for our talks only travel expense and if needed (distance more as 3 ~ 4 hours drive) a hotel room for Joanne & me.
We bring to most talks a box of Discus as donation, most clubs MAKE money on my talk.

Other thing is, clubs have meetings with speakers, get people away from their computer for a while :D if every speaker is online ................................... ????

Hi Hans,

and thank you, you made the point. Actually I have just written nice things about you in my volume II, it is another monster and with this I hope to have really completed Discus for hopefully the future (at least has all records since the very begin of breeding, selection, championships, developments, health, care, aquariums, decorations, diseases, practical experience, advice, future, also of Amazonia and in aquaria...and newest findings). I wrote about every single country which has discus breeders (over 300 from nearly 100 countries) and in Holland you are the first...

anyhow, keep up the good work (which I know you hate to work...)

always

Heiko
