Ehiem 2217

I have a 55 gallon fish tank and a ehiem 2217 filter canister but I want to use it like a wave in the tank so can i use the hose that take the water from the canister to the tank and put it just a little under the water line and drill some holes in the hose that intake water and make it some waves when the water comes out?

The eheim 2217 normally comes with a s[ray bar which will what I think yu are trying to do.
