Ok, Now into the first week and had no unexpected problems. They are a little skittish during water changes but after one I give them either brine shrimp or blood worms. As soon as this goes into the water they forget about the water changes. I have been taking out 20 gallons and then the following day about 40 gallons. My tds out of the tap is 136 and in the tank the highest it gets is 180. I am trying to keep it under 150 so I will up the water changes to 30 and 40 gallons and see what that gives me.
ph 7.4
NO2 0
NO3 0
NH3/NH4 0
As much water as is being changed, I will monitor for a few more weeks than check maybe twice a week.

Hey Jim,

Fish are looking very healthy. Keep up the good work.

Darren, 25 more to go? Assume you mean 52 (weeks that is)?

Fish look great. That is an interesting back ground. What is it & how did you apply it?

The background is painted on with sponges and 7 different colors. I just randomly applied paint and let dry and kept adding other colors. If I would have had more time to set up I could have tried different color combinations to get different results. The only mistake I see is that the bottom should have been 1 color. Its hard to see food and poop on the bottom. I may scrape it and repaint it maybe a tan color.

Jim, very creative. I agree with you, a light paint on the bottom helps to illuminate the fish for picture taking. Also easy to see to clean.
Fish look great, keep it up. :)

Thanks for sharing your method.

I will be taking the paint off the bottom and repainting it white or a light tan.

Loooking fab Jim. The lighter colour will bring out the fish more as well as being able to see the feaces for cleaning. The background looks quiet unique!
