4th Czech Discus Championships

Hi Guys,

Hi all of you discus fish freaks,

this is Heiko Bleher, and you might know I just came back from Australia from lectures at the Perth Cichlid Society (about Discus only - 3 lectures also films from my recent 400 Green Discus Colletion in the upper Jutaí),
the 8th Indo-Pacific Fish Congress and collecting in the Southwestern part and I wanted to let you all know about Europe's biggest event coming up:

the 1. International Angelfish Championships together with the 4th Czech Discus championships and and international participation as well as the
1st Labyrinth championship, will take place in the beautiful Ceska Lipa, a small old town near Prague, in the Czech Republic, from September 3-6.

The forms to participate and/or register, information about this unique championship and the the nice (cheap) Hotels (including breakfast less than US$ 50) will be up on our www.aquapress-bleher.com website in a couple of days.

No one of you all should miss this event (flights are cheap begin of September and weather is fantastic). There will also be great lectures & seminars, also on P. altum (what is the real one...) and wild Discus expeditions.

Hi,

there are films so far, as the great event will only take place in September (3-6). Maybe after it, that is possible. But it would be much better to go. As 4 days, and all the top lectures, all the championships, bitope aquariums etc. would be a very long film (4 days...).

And I wanted to let you all know, that the 4th Czech International Discus Championships and Aquarium2009 will take place in Prague, at the Botanical Gardens on
September 17-20th and not as mentioned earlier on 3-6. And also not at the localtion Ceska Lipa, but in Prague, Europes most beautiful city (they say).

as you remember from our Costa Mesa meeting we could not get the videos to play. is there somewhere where you have them uploaded so that we may see them? i was disappointed that we could not see them at the meeting. hope you have them somewhere on the net

Hi Richardo,

thanks for coming to my lectures and I hope you liked them (besides the video and text disaster). Did you see we have put some photos up of some of the people who came on my website, are you among those? I had unfortunately no name, but on one photos are only the SimplyDiscus people who came (I think all).
Normally I do not upload videos, but we have started with the amazing neck-bending fish I collected in June in Southwestern Australia, as this is an amazing fish and only one of a kind in the world (no other fish does that). But maybe in the future more. The problem is: you all guys have fishes as a hobby, for me it is a living all my life. And sometimes I also must make a buck to pay for may many field trips (still at least 10 a year) and scientific publications I sponsor - to help to catalogue the fish-biodiversity of this planet - and I have never had a sponsor. So please consider this as well.

And still I think I contribue very much to the hobby all my life in helping people around the world to understand this, the most beautiful and educational hobby, to always grow and to every day understand it a little more...
