Is Christi's Red Hot Blue Glue ok to use on pvc pipes that carry water for discus tanks?
Thanks,
Pat

Works fine. Sets damned quick though, be sure you want it glued. :)

What other sealants would you recommend?
Thanks,

I use it all the time and pump water through the new connections within 20 minutes. No issues.
Best wishes!

I use a different PVC solvent with a primer, a little extra working time to get the pipe in the right lineup. We're not talking a long time either way, maybe five seconds in difference, but it's enough for me to adjust the fitting.
I dry fit everything, then mark it with a sharpie, a line across the joint. Break it apart and prime, then glue the pipe and fitting. Insert pipe into fitting slightly off from the line and twist until lined up.
I have used Christi's to glue a cap on a line that couldn't be fully shut off, but no alignment problem there. It sealed the pipe in seconds, with a dribble running out of the pipe until the cap was placed on it. But I have also inserted the pipe with the Christi's glue and not gotten it lined up and had to discard the joint.
Any cement rated for the PVC/CPVC you're using is fine as far as fish go.
Your mileage may vary with the Christi's, I'm a little slow sometimes. :)
